The Hooray! Help Hub
Everything you need to host with ease, send invites, and make every celebration a breeze.
Getting started
From "I'm planning something" to "the invite is ready!"
- Click Get Started.
- Enter your name, WhatsApp number, email address and a password, then click Create Account.
- Open the link we email you to verify your account, then sign in.
Your first sign-in takes you straight to creating your event. You don't need to buy anything first: fill in your event, then choose its package and pay for it when you click Create Event. If you started from a package in the pricing section, your first sign-in takes you to checkout with that package picked instead.
No email? Check your spam or promotions folder. The link works for 60 minutes, and you can ask for a new one from the "Check your email" page.
The event wizard has three short steps:
- Event type and cover photo. Pick the kind of event and, on packages that include it, add a cover photo.
- Details. The name, date and time, RSVP deadline, how long guests have to answer, host name, a description, plus-ones and ticket price (if guests pay to attend).
- Programme. Add each part of the day, such as the ceremony and the reception, with its time and place.
Click Create Event and your event is saved as a draft. If you haven't bought an event yet, you choose its package and pay for it first: your event is created as soon as the payment goes through. Going back from checkout keeps everything you filled in.
A draft is only visible to you. Use the time to get everything ready: the checklist at the top of the event page shows what's left.
- Add details for guests, such as the dress code and parking.
- Add your guests.
- Write your invitation message.
When you're ready, click Publish event. Once it's published you can send invitations, and guests can open their links and the public event page.
Want a preview? Open the public event page from the Overview tab. While it's a draft, only you can see it.
Click Edit event on the Overview tab to change anything from the wizard: the name, date, description, plus-ones, programme and more. Guests see the changes the next time they open their link, and their answers stay as they are.
The package can't be changed once an event is created.
Deleting an event removes its guests and invitations for good. If you delete it before adding any guests, you get the event back to use again.
Your event
Add the details that help everyone know where to be and what to expect.
The programme is the schedule of your day, and guests see it on their invitation and pass. Each item can have its own venue, address and Google Maps link, so guests get directions to every stop.
Open the Activities tab to add, change or remove items. They're always shown in time order, and the first one's venue is the place shown on invitations.
On the Overview tab, fill in Details for guests:
- Dress code, for example "Smart casual" or "Chitenge".
- Number to call on the day. Guests can tap it to call.
- Parking directions.
- Gifts, for example a registry or "Envelopes welcome".
Click Save details. They appear under "Good to know" on the invitation, the guest's pass and the public event page. Leave out anything that doesn't apply, and change them at any time.
Use the Images tab to change the cover photo and add photos to your event's gallery, which guests see on their invitation. How many you can add depends on your package.
On the Menu & Music tab, add the dishes you're serving. Confirmed guests see the menu on their pass, and can tell you about allergies or dietary needs and suggest songs. Their notes and song suggestions show up on the same tab.
Guests & invitations
Get your people on the list, send the invite, and keep track of who's coming.
On the Guests tab, add guests one at a time with their name, email address and phone number. Add a WhatsApp-ready phone number if you'll invite them on WhatsApp.
Have a long list? On packages that include it, import a CSV file with the columns name, email
and phone. You can add table too.
Guest limit: your package sets how many people you can invite. Approved plus-ones count toward it.
Publish your event first. Then:
- On the Messages tab, pick a message design or write your own message. Placeholders such as
{guest_name}are filled in for each guest. - Choose a PDF invitation template, and preview it if you like.
- Click Send invitations to email every guest their personal link.
On packages with WhatsApp, each guest on the Guests tab has a WhatsApp button that opens WhatsApp with their invitation ready for you to send. You can also copy any guest's personal link.
Guests open their personal link, see the invitation and answer Yes, Maybe or No. If you set a time to RSVP, it starts when they first open the invitation. RSVPs close at the end of your RSVP deadline day.
The public event page shows the date, place and programme, but guests RSVP only from their personal link.
When a guest says yes, their place waits for your approval on the Requests tab. Approving confirms them and unlocks their pass, which is emailed to them on packages with email. You can decline someone and reconsider later.
If you allow plus-ones, guests can ask to bring extra people, up to the number you set. Those requests also wait for you on the Requests tab.
The numbers at the top of the event page update by themselves as answers come in.
On the Seating tab, give each guest a table and, if you like, a seat. Guests are grouped by table so you can see who sits where. A guest's table appears on their pass.
At the gate
A smoother welcome for your guests, from first scan to "come on in!"
Once you approve a guest, they get a pass with their name, photo (if they added one), table, a QR code for the gate, the programme and the menu. They can keep it on their phone or print it. There's no app to install.
On packages with QR check-in, sign in on your phone and tap Scan on your dashboard. Point the camera at a guest's QR code to open their invitation, then check them in.
- Check-in opens 2 hours before the event starts.
- You can also find a guest in the guest list on the check-in page.
- Arrivals show on the Guests tab with the time they checked in.
Packages & payment
Pay once per event. No subscriptions.
You buy a package for each event. Packages differ in how many guests you can invite, how invitations go out (email, WhatsApp), photos, templates and QR check-in. Events you've bought never expire, so create them whenever you're ready.
Compare packages in the pricing section. For larger events, talk to us about a tailored package.
- Fill in your event and click Create Event, then choose its package.
- Pick your network (Airtel, MTN or Zamtel) and enter your mobile money number.
- Approve the payment prompt on your phone with your PIN.
Once the payment goes through, your event is created. It stays a draft until you publish it, so you can add your guests and details first.
